You don’t have to be a professional chef or seasoned braaimaster to make your own homemade glaze. The trick is combining the right ingredients to create that glossy coating on the meat while elevating the taste.
This Berliner recipe, which is ideal for the braai, uses the all-time South African favourite of All Gold tomato sauce, honey, soya sauce, garlic & fresh thyme. Cooked until caramelised perfection, these pork chops are best when served with a fresh avocado salad and roasted baby potatoes.
Don’t have time to light the braai tonight? No problem! Use an air-fryer to cook the pork chops for a quick, easy, hassle-free supper.
Method
- Whisk together the tomato sauce, honey, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic and thyme in a bowl to make the glaze.
- Rub oil on the pork chops and lightly season with salt and pepper
- Heat a grill pan to a medium heat and sear the pork chops on either side.
- Slightly reduce the heat. Brush the glaze onto the chops as they cook for about 7-9 minutes per side. If you have an internal thermometer, the reading should read 63°C.
